2018 Synchronize Fest to Feature Pop, Qasidah Music

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The multi-genre music festival Synchronize Fest will again take place this year with a concept of reunion and collaboration of music and art communities in the country. The festival will present 118 local musicians for three days starting October 5-7 in JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

The festival is expected to serve as a platform of Indonesian music as well as an place of interaction for all musicians and music enthusiasts, said festival director David Karto.

“Synchronize Fest is increasingly developing by the year, as seen from the audiences and brands, because music cannot be separated, but it is integrated from various genres. And no similar festival has ever been held, [a music festival] that collaborates inter-genre and generations,” David Karto said in a press statement Tempo received on Wednesday, September 26.

This year, Synchronize Fest will install one extra stage to add to the previous five in 2017. The technical festival director, Muhammad Riza, explained the new stage was aimed at the millennial generation.

“We will set a new stage, so there will be Forest Stage, Dynamic Stage, Lake Stage, District Stage, Gigs Stage and XYZ Stage that will offer unique and different experiences. The additional stage will show the electronic genre for millennials,” he said.

Musicians that are slated to perform at the 2018 Synchronize Fest, among others, are Dewa 19 feat. Ari Lasso and Once Mekel, Padi Reborn, Sheila on 7, Endah & Resa, Project Pop, The Panasdalam Band, NDX AKA, Manumata, Soneta Group, and Qasidah (traditional Islamic music) group Nasidaria.
