Kulon Progo Tourism Village Goes Digital

TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - The Association of Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA) of Yogyakarta in tandem with the tourism village Nglinggo Barat, Kulon Progo Regency, digitized the tourism potential in the region through its program dubbed ASITA Jogja Tourism Festival.

“Tourism village Nglinggo Barat has its nature and various tourist attraction to be then digitized,” said ASITA Yogyakarta head Sudiyanto, Wednesday, September 26.

Nglinggo Barat is known for its beautiful nature such as tea and coffee bean garden, pine forest, trekking tour, and off-road package tour. In addition, tourists could learn to make palm sugar, picking tea and coffee leaves, and join training of traditional dance Lengger Tapeng in the local studio.

Seen the potential, Sudiyanto added, ASITA Yogyakarta synergized with Kulon Progo administration and cellular operator Smartfren to establish a digitalization program in Nglinggo Barat Village.

With the program, the tourist could access wireless internet network via Wi-Fi spots installed across the village and gain information about the tourist attraction by screening QR Code displayed in the area.

Aside for the tourist, the program would allow all parties to promote and sell their products or tourist attractions through a marketplace platform in www.jogjatourismfestival.com.

Sudiyanto explained ASITA Jogja Tourism Festival was launched in coincide with the World Tourism Day on Thursday, September 27.

“Nglinggo Village is the starting point and this program will then applied in other tourism villages in Yogyakarta in a bid to support the sustainable tourism and prosper the local people,” Sudiyanto concluded.
