TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) offered condolences over the death of Jakarta football club Persija supporter named Haringga Sirila.
The Jakmania–a call for Persija supporters–from Cengkareng was dead because of an attack committed by supporters of Bandung football club Persib before 2018 Go-Jek League 1 match between Persib Bandung and Persija Jakarta at Bandung Lautan Api Stadium, Sunday, September 23.
"PSSI is deeply saddened to hear the incident happened to Haringga. We are very sorry and regret it. We condemn the perpetrators," said PSSI General Chairman Edy Rahmayadi on Monday, September 24.
He asserted that a football match should unite [people]; not ruin it. "We hope this incident will not further occur in Indonesian football," Edy added.
PSSI appealed to all parties to hold themselves following the incident. "Let us entrust the authorities to investigate it thoroughly. And of course, PSSI along with PT Liga Indonesia Baru and other football clubs will evaluate the matters to prevent more incidents in the future," Edy said.
In this match, Persib defeated Persija with a score of 3-2. The goals were scored by Ezechiel N Doussel and Bojan Malisic, while Persija's two goals were made by Jaimerson Xavier and Rohit Chand.
