TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia`s vice presidential candidate for 2019-2024 period Ma`ruf Amin has asserted his readiness to fight for the interests of the nation and state, even though he was not as young as other presidential and vice presidential aspirants.
"Some say Ma`ruf Amin is old. Who says I am young?. Everyone knows I am old," Amin remarked when attending the "Arus Baru Muslimah" declaration at Balai Kartini, on Sunday night.
He said the incumbent presidential candidate Joko Widodo chose him as his running mate because he felt comfortable.
"Some say Ma`ruf Amin is not as old as Mahathir Mohamad. It is true, I was young when I met Mahathir, this is what excited me," Amin said.

He stated that even if he only have one day to live, he would be ready to fight for the interests of the state and the nation.
Amin made an analogue of a parent who planted trees to be enjoyed by their future generations, and he also enjoy the fruit from trees planted by previous generations.
On that occasion, Amin expressed his gratitude for the support of the women who joined the Arus Baru Muslimah.
"This support is very meaningful, the number of women is bigger than men, and that means that they will determine who is the winner of the upcoming presidential election," Ma`ruf Amin said.
