TEMPO.CO, Bandarlampung - Mount Anak Krakatau in Sunda Straits, Lampung, since Friday until early Saturday, September 21-22, erupted for 44 times, as noted in the release issued by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
As quoted by BMKG, Mt. Anak Krakatau observer’s noted that during the monitoring on September 21 at 00:00 until 24:00, the mountain erupted for 44 times with a column height of 100-600 meters and spewed dark smoke.

According to the Mount Anak Krakatau’s Observation Post, Volcanology Center and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG), the mount activity was accompanied by firelights and incandescent flow to the south as well as thunder sounds and weak tremors.
White and thin to thick cloudy smoke of 50-200 meters in height was observed above the crater, while the shocks occurred for 253 times with an amplitude 41-52 mm and duration of 23-410 seconds. The micro tremor was noted with an amplitude 4-53 mm (dominant 45 mm).
The officer said the status of Mount Anak Krakatau remains alert (level II) and no people or tourists allowed to go near the crater within 2 kilometers.
