Jokowi Bars Regional Govt from Employing New Honorary Worker

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko `Jokowi` Widodo forbids the regional government and related institutions further recruit honorary employee. According to the State Personnel Agency (BKN) head Bima Haria Wibisana, the government was currently drafting an employment scheme to assure the prosperity of non-civil servant.
Bima explained the new scheme would accommodate the existing honorary employees. With the policy, it was expected no additional contract employee is recruited in the governmental institution.

“President Jokowi orders if the new scheme is applied, no honorary employee will be recruited,” said Bima after attending the closed-door meeting related to Government Regulation (PP) on government employees with work agreements (PPPK) on Friday, September 21.
Meanwhile, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko added the government would later impose a sanction to the regional government that continues to recruit honorary workers following the regulation issuance. He said the sanction and its policy was still being discussed.
