TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The second daughter of former president Abdurrahman Wahid (Gusdur), Yenny Wahid, asserts that she does not plan on joining either of the campaign team from candidates that will run in the 2019 presidential election.
“What is clear is that I will not join any of the campaign teams as recent news reports suggest,” wrote Yenny in a text message Tempo received this morning, Sept. 21.
Yenny had to deliver the statement after numerous news reports suggest that she is fought over by the two campaign teams that. However, she stated her intentions to provide support but is still currently considering her options.
“Let's see,” said Yenny Wahid who will base her decision on the candidates’ program and direction that will be taken.
Yenny Wahid was recently visited by vice presidential hopeful Sandiaga Uno, who partners with presidential hopeful Prabowo Subianto. Many consider Sandiaga’s decision as a strategic move since Yenny Wahid's presence in Prabowo camp is deemed to strengthen the pair’s stand on the issue of diversity.
