TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) have paid off its operational costs for the 2018 Asian Games opening ceremony. This includes the wage for the thousands of Ratoh Jaroe dancers involved in the games’ opening act.
“We are really grateful for the dancers, teachers, and parents that have contributed,” said Eris Herriyanto, INASGOC secretary general today on Wednesday, September 19.
A rumor that previously emerged suggested that INASGOC failed to pay the Ratoh Jaroe dancers involved in the Asian Games opening ceremony. Despite not expecting to be paid, the dancers said that they were promised an amount of money.
Without revealing the nominal, Eris said that the operational costs for dancers have been paid based on existing contract. “We transferred it to the school’s account from where the dancers come from,” he said.
In detail, the payment was conducted in three stages in April, June, and September 17. The INASGOC secretary general also said that all of the payments were already documented. “There were 2,113 Ratoh Jaroe dancers from 18 high-schools in Jakarta.”
