TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In his speech, Democratic Party Chairman Susilo `SBY` Bambang Yudhoyono urged party members to avert from disruptive strategies and behaviors in favor of a win at the upcoming 2019 general election (Pemilu).
He further said that party members must bear the capacity, integrity, and commitment to represent the people’s interests in regional or central parliament.
“There is no magical recipe to gain success,” said the sixth Indonesian president during Democratic Party’s 17th anniversary held at Djakarta Theatre on Monday, September 17. There were moments where SBY reminded his members to once again elevate the political party “through honorable ways.”

Meanwhile, in a written statement in Democratic Party’s official website, SBY said that negative campaigns are inevitable during a country’s general election, it is not exclusively an Indonesian trait and can happen in other countries also.
SBY also urged the entire Democratic Party members that were present to stay away from slander, hoaxes, and other forms of black campaigns during the 2019 general election.
