Police Organize Drug Eradication Operation in South Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - South Jakarta Police are ready to run the 2018 Nila Jaya Operation to hunt down the drug users and dealers aiming to suppress drug crimes.
“[Through] this operation, we expect the number of drug crimes will decrease,” South Jakarta Police Chief Sr. Comr. Indra Jafar said on Saturday, September 15.
According to Indra, 90 percent of drug crime convicts in Jakarta were detained at the South Jakarta Police Station. The operation will be carried out in crowded places such as residential areas, schools, and public area as a common location to gather.

This morning, the South Jakarta Police’s drug investigation unit visited Pasar Manggis area in Setiabudi, South Jakarta. The police, as well as the representatives from the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and Indonesian Medical Association (IDI), checked a residential area in the location.
Indra said, around 100 joint personnel were deployed in the drug operation. The joint team consisted of the District Military Command (Kodim), BNN Jakarta, doctors from the IDI, Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), and the Narcotics Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Police.
