KPK Receives Rp1.1 Bn from Setya Novanto

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has received Rp1.1 billion from former House of Representative (DPR) speaker Setya Novanto, in relation to the electronic ID Card of e-KTP graft case.

“The execution prosecutor sends the money from Setya’s account to KPK’s amounted to Rp1,116,624,197,” said KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah in a written statement, Thursday, September 13.

Setya was found guilty in the e-KTP graft case and sentenced for 1 year of imprisonment and a fine of Rp500 million with a subsidiary of six months in prison. He was also demanded to pay the replacement money worth US$7.3 million.

Febri said Setya Novanto has paid Rp5 billion during the legal proceedings and US$100,000 after being executed to Sukamiskin Prison, Bandung.

Febri went on to say that the assets' confiscation was carried out after the prosecutor obtained the power of attorney from Setya. “Setya Novanto said he would be cooperative to pay the replacement money,” Febri added.
