Bomb Squad Probes Cause of Explosion at Darmawangsa Apartment

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An explosion was heard from Tower 1 of Darmawangsa Essence Apartment at Kebayoran Baru on Tuesday, September 11, at around 14:45. The police said that the explosion heavily damaged an apartment unit belonging to a Korean national.

The South Jakarta Metro Police's Investigation Unit chief AKBP Stefanus Tamuntuan said that two neighboring units saw minor damages.

The apartment unit was located on the 17th floor. Stefanus said that the police's initial assumption for the cause of the explosion is an LPG gas tube.

Two women were inside the apartment unit; the owner Lee and her Indonesian housekeeper Rumiati.

The Jakarta Police's bomb squad had been sent to the location to investigate the area. "The forensic lab plans to investigate the crime scene on Wednesday," Stefanus said.
