SOE Minister Explains Reasons behind Changes of Garuda CEO

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Minister of State Owned Enterprises (SOE) Rini Soemarno has spoken about the reason behind the changes of state airliner Garuda Indonesia`s board of directors. According to Rini, it was a reasonable arrangement.

“Yes, that’s a reasonable condition,” said Rini in Jakarta, Wednesday, September 12.

During an extraordinary shareholder's general meeting (EGM), Garuda Indonesia decided to discharge its CEO Pahala Mansury who have served for 17 months. The position would be given to I Gusti Ngurah Askhara Danadiputra alias Ari Askhara.

Previously, SOE Ministry appointed the former director of state oil and gas company Pertamina Gigih Prakoso Soewarto as the president director of state-owned gas enterprise PGN.

Rini explained the adjustment of SOE companies’ directors was based on the needs and the personal ability to face upcoming challenges.

“For example in Garuda Indonesia, we totally analyze what expertise that we need to improve the company's performance and the relationship between the board of commissioners and directors,” said Minister Rini Soemarno.
