Police Arrest 784 Suspects of Narcotics Case Within a Week

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police arrested a total of 784 suspects from 595 narcotics cases within a week starting September 1 to 7.
“From this week exploration, we have seized 75 kilograms marijuana and 53 kilograms crystal methamphetamine, 12,000 psychotropic pills, 539 ecstasy pills, and other kinds of illegal drug,” said the police's Narcotics Criminal Investigation Director, Brig. Gen. Eko Danianto in a written statement, Friday, September 7.
The police along with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) determined to stem the distribution of illegal drugs in Indonesia. Most of the crystal meth, Eko mentioned, was smuggled from Malaysia through the sea to several beaches in Sumatra.
"We have arrested a Malaysian citizen and now is named as the suspect for carrying methamphetamine to Indonesia," Eko said.
West Java Police also captured four suspects of Malaysia network in Cikampek toll Road KM 58 when they were on the way to Bandung. Police confiscated 10 kilograms of meth.
"Two of them are apparently commanded by two prisoners named Edo and Joe from Subang Prison," Eko added.
Eko explained the efforts to eradicate narcotics was carried out throughout regional police as an attempt that the government endeavored to stop the distribution of narcotics in Indonesia.
