Mount Anak Krakatau Quake; Public to Steer Clear from Crater

TEMPO.CO, Bandar Lampung - Mount Anak Krakatau located in Sunda Straits, South Lampung regency experienced constant tremors from Thursday until early Friday, September 7. The volcanic activity was marked by the thunder sound and firelight from the summit of the mount with the altitude 305 meters above sea level (mdpl).
The status of Mount Anak Krakatau was at the level II Alert (waspada).

“The residents and tourists are prohibited from coming near the crater within 2 kilometers,” as quoted from a release issued by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), reported by Windi Cahya Untung from Mount Anak Krakatau's Observation Post, Volcanology Center and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG) on Friday, September 7.
The weather in the area around the volcano is bright, partly cloudy, and rainy. The wind flows to the east, south, and southwest with a temperature of 25 to 33 degrees Celcius, air humidity of 65.9 to 82 percent, and air pressure 0-0 mmHg.
Mount Anak Krakatau is covered in smoke at level 0-III. No smoke emerged from the crater.
