TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta administration led by Governor Anies Baswedan plans to enhance the bonuses of local athletes that competed in the 2018 Asian Games, which he argues will be able to further motivate and improve athlete’s future performances.

“It needs further adjustments to maintain their drive,” said Head of Sport and Youth Agency Ratiyono at the Jakarta’s legislative Council (DPRD) in Central Jakarta yesterday.

Ratiyono argues that the hopes of an even larger bonus can be utilized by athletes to improve their drive to win through practices.

However, Ratiyono has yet revealed the specific amount of raise that will be given to the athletes. Based on the Governor’s Decree released in 2017 saw that gold medalists are can rightfully receive Rp300 million, silver medalists are to receive Rp150 million and bronze medalists with Rp90 million.

Meanwhile, non-medal winning athletes will be given each Rp7.5 million. “Coaches will also get additional bonuses but we’re not revealing it since it is being discussed. The bonuses from the Jakarta administration will be handed in October this year.
