Golkar, KPK and the Suspected Graft to Fund the Party`s Munaslub

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Golkar Party Secretary General Lodewijk F. Paulus said that the party had never been asked for a financial report of its extraordinary congress (Munaslub) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to trace the alleged Riau PLTU-1 corruption cash flow.

“We were never asked by the KPK. But we’ll see, because the KPK are working on it currently,” said Lodewijk on Monday, September 3.

The issue of an alleged graft funding the Golkar Party Munaslub emerged nationally after House of Representatives Deputy Chief of Energy Commission Eni Maulani Saragih, who was named as a suspect in the case, revealed the facts.

Eni claims she handed Rp2 billion to the Golkar Munaslub in 2017, which was a product of the Riau PLTU bribery. Eni took the position that was filled by Airlangga Hartarto as the party’s treasurer.

“I used the Rp2 billion for the Munaslub,” said Eni after being questioned at the KPK headquarters on Monday, August 25.

KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said that it will investigate Eni’s confession even further. He explained that her confession was confronted by other witnesses and assessed that it must be clear if it was used for personal use and if it was used to fund Golkar’s activities.
