TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) found Sandiaga Uno not guilty of political dowry, Democrat secretary-general Andi Arief accused the Bawaslu of being not serious in handling the case.
“Bawaslu is a slacker and not serious [in handling the dowry allegations],” Andi Arief told reporters today.
Prior to this, the Indonesia United Federation reported to the Bawaslu a suspected political dowry implicating Sandiaga Uno on August 14, which was based on Andi Arief’s constant tweets implying that Sandiaga handed money to PAN and PKS. The federation deemed that to be sufficient, credible proof of misconduct.

However, Bawaslu found no irregularities and said Sandiaga Uno was innocent of such accusations, thus deciding to cease the investigation. Bawaslu chairman Abhan explained the main reason he halted the investigation was the lack of credible evidence and witnesses.

Andi Arief responded by blaming the Bawaslu for not taking enough time to investigate his statements, including the one he made in Lampung several weeks ago. “If a commissioner just sits behind his desk then that person is not a supervisor,” he said.
