Puspa Arumsari Pencak Silat Win adds Indonesia`s Gold Tally to 13

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Puspa Arumsari won Indonesia’s first gold medal in the 2018 Asian Games pencak silat sporting event. The 25 year old topped the Women’s Single score chart held at Taman Mini’s Padepokan Pencak Silat in East Jakarta today.

Puspa’s win adds Indonesia’s gold tally to 13, just one gold medal behind Iran that currently ranks fourth.

Puspa achieved the highest points of 467, defeating Singaporean Nurzuhairah Mohammad Yazid who scored 445 to take the silver medal, meanwhile, Philippine’s Cherry May Regalado collected 444 points and took the bronze.

Other than Puspa Arumsari, other Indonesian athletes performing in the pencak silat men’s double are Yola Primadona Jampil and Hendy, while Nunu Nugraha, Asep Yuldan Sani and Anggi Faisal Mubarok will participate in the men’s team.

Today will also see Indonesia’s Abdul Malik face Malaysian Muhamad Faizul M. Nasir in the 50 kg – 55 kg men’s class. While Aji Bangkit Pamungkas will face Singapore’s Sheik Ferdous Sheik Alauddin in the Men’s Class I 85 kg – 90 kg. The third event of the day will see Iqbal Candra Pratama face Vietnamese Ngoc Toan Nguyen in the Men’s Class D 60 kg – 65 kg.

Meanwhile, Sarah Tria Monita and Komang Harik Adi Putra will also be performing in the Women’s Class C 55kg-60kg and the Men’s Class E 65kg-70kg in today’s fourth and fifth pencak silat sporting event.
