TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police confirmed that the perpetrator who assaulted a teenager identified as RA, 14 years old, on Jagorawi Toll Road on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, was not a member of the Indonesian National Army (TNI).
"Not a TNI member," said the Head of the General Criminal Investigation Sub-Directorate of the Jakarta Police Adjunct Sr. Comr. Sapta Maulana through a short message on Thursday, August 23, 2018.
Sapta also said that he already knew the identity of the perpetrator. According to RA's brother, Reza, the family had reported the incident.
"We already [reported the incident] yesterday afternoon," Reza said via a short message.
The incident began when Reza was driving on the Jagorawi Toll Road, precisely from Cibubur to Jakarta. At that time, the traffic was quite congested and Reza had to make a sudden stop because the car in front of suddenly stopped.
Just behind Reza's car, there was a black Chevrolet Captiva with a license plate B-1207-TGZ attached with a TNI sticker. Suddenly, after exiting the toll gate, the car stopped Reza's car. When Reza and his brother got out from the car, the Chevrolet Captiva driver immediately strangled them and hit RA right in the face. The persecution resulted in blood flowing from RA's nose.
Based on the 13-second viral video on social media, the Captiva driver who hit RA has a strong build, had short hair, and used a gray polo shirt.
