7 Facts about 18th Asian Games Opening

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 2018 Asian Games to be officially opened on Saturday evening, August 18, at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) main stadium in Jakarta. The pan-Asia sporting event will be opened by a colossal play to show the world that Indonesia is able to organize such an international event.


The 18th Asian Games opening is expected to attract billions of viewers from around the world. Here are seven interesting facts about the event collected by Tempo from the official website of the event.

1. The Asian Games opening will be enlivened by performance of Indonesian musicians. They are include the worldwide diva Anggun, Raisa, Tulus, Via Vallen, Ariel NOAH, Rossa, Rian D'Masiv, Cakra Khan, Rinni Wulandari, Wizzy, Edo Kondologit, Putri Ayu, Fatin, GAC, and Kamasean.

2. The stars will perform on a spectacular stage, measuring 120x30x26 meters. A view of a big mountain and various typical plants in Indonesia will be diplayed on stage. The display is made manually by craftmen from Bandung and Jakarta.

3. Some 5,000 dancers will enliven the Asian Games opening show. They will show dances coreogrpahed by professionals; Denny Malik and Eko Supriyanto. 

4. Hundreds of musicians will perform under the famous music conductor Addie MS and a wellknown musician in Indonesia, Ronald Steven.

5. The people behind the establishment of Asan Games opening are the professionals, namely Wishnutama as the creative director, Ronald Steven and Addie MS as the music designers, Eko Supriyanto and Denny Malik as the coreographers, Dynand Fariz and Rinaldy Yunardi as the fashion stylists.

6. The ticket price for the opening is charged at Rp750,000-Rp5 million. The ticketing committee claimed it was sold out since Thursday. But the event will be aired at national television channels so the people in the country can watch it.

7. Six legendary athletes, whose names are yet to disclose to surprise the people, will relay the 18th Asian Games torch at the GBK.
