Jokowi: Quality of Indonesia`s Human Life Continues to Improve

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko 'Jokowi' Jokowi says Indonesia is a country with high human development because the quality of its human life continues to improve.
“The quality of Indonesia’s human life in the past four years has continued to improve. The human development index increased from 68.90 in 2014 to 70,81 in 2017,” said President Joko Widodo at the 2018 MPR Annual Session at the MPR/DPR/DPD Building, Jakarta, Thursday, August 16.
President said that the government had attempted to equalize access and quality of education through the distribution of the Kartu Indonesia Pintar (Indonesia Smart Card). In 2017, it had reached 20 million students and the distribution of the Bidik Misi scholarship program for students.
In addition, there are also efforts to build healthy Indonesian people through the Healthy Living Community Movement and social protection for the poor.
“The government has gradually increased the recipients of National Health Insurance Contribution from 86.4 million in 2014 to 92.4 million in May 2018,” said President.
Indonesian people have never stopped working hard so that they will prosper. Therefore, President expressed his gratitude for the hard work of the Indonesian people to gain results.
The meeting was attended by Vice President Jusuf Kalla, state officials, Working Cabinet ministers, representatives of friendly countries, former presidents, Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie, Megawati Sukarnoputri, and former Vice Presidents Try Sutrisno and Boediono.
