TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo said he has not yet received Sandiaga Uno’s resignation letter as Jakarta Deputy Governor. He said that it is normal because the determination of the presidential and vice presidential candidate still has time.
“The presidential and vice presidential announcement is on September 20, so there is still enough time, no problem," Tjahjo said at the KPK Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 15.
Tjahjo had received information that Sandiaga’s resignation letter had been received by the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD). The Ministry of Home Affairs only needs to wait for the DPRD plenary session to decide Sandiaga’s resignation.
“DPRD Chairman will submit the decision to the government,” he said.
Sandiaga said he had sent the resignation letter to Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and Anies has signed it. “Maybe it’s still being processed,” he said.
Sandiaga Uno resigned as Jakarta Deputy Governor to participate in the 2019 Presidential Election. He became Prabowo Subianto’s vice presidential candidate. They have registered to the General Election Commission (KPU) on Friday, 10 August. They underwent a series of tests and completeness of the files.
