Satpol PP to Guard Asian Games Venue from Sacrificial Animals

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Administration confirmed the area around the horse race arena or equestrian in Pulomas, East Jakarta, would be free from the activities of trading and slaughtering sacrificial animals. The condition is needed for the 2018 Asian Games.
The East Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) personnel were seen patrolling in the area. As a result, there were no sellers of sacrificial animals. It contrasts with the previous years before Eid al-Adha.
“The sellers of sacrificial animals are usually crowded around here. They do not dare to hold a stall after a dissemination on the sacrificial animals ban for a radius of three kilometers,” said Jamaludin, Tuesday, August 14.
Head of Satpol PP Jakarta Yani Wahyu Purwoko said he would continue to closely monitor the Equestrian Pulomas area. The supervision was conducted in the area of Velodrome and BMX Park Pulo Mas.
“There are 250 Satpol PP personnel who supervise the area in East Jakarta," Yani said.
Head of the Livestock and Animal Health Section of the East Jakarta KPKP Office, Irma Budiany, said the ban was done to avoid the racehorses from the diseases such as anthrax before competing in the 2018 Asian Games.
In order for the public to understand the rules, Irma said that she had held two dissemination to the community around Pulomas Equestrian, on April 13 and on July 11.
As a result of the rule, 35 mosques in six villages could not conduct the slaughter of sacrificial animals. The six sub-districts include Kayu Putih, Rawamangun, Pulogadung, Jati, Kelapa Gading Barat and Kelapa Gading Timur.
They were instructed to slaughter the sacrificial animals in the local slaughterhouse owned by the local administration and the slaughter is promised free.
