TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The vice presidential candidate Sandiaga Uno has repeatedly stated that he will focus on economic issues in the 2019 presidential election campaign.
Sandiaga claimed that he and Prabowo Subianto were ready to face the economic data from the incumbent candidate by using the direct aspirations of mothers and millennials as data.
“We are using the latest data from the mothers and millennials that indeed the employment is difficult to obtain and the prices [of staples] are increasing high,” said Sandiaga at Jalan Purnawarman, South Jakarta, Tuesday, August 14.
Sandiaga claimed that his coalition did not want to be fixated on the data and he would continue to absorb the aspirations of the community regarding the actual conditions faced. “We must ensure that we are able to answer these aspirations,” he said.
Sandiaga said that they would also consult with a number of economists. Some of them are the former Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said, former Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Rizal Ramli, and senior economist Kwik Kian Gie.
Sandiaga said he was optimistic that the data referred to by his coalition able to compete with the incumbent data. “God willing, it is clear and as our record,” he said.
