TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Future vice presidential candidate Sandiaga Uno provided clarification upon the recent issue alleging him of participating in a political dowry at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) office today, August 14.
Sandiaga refuted the allegation to KPK's Director of wealth reporting (LHKPN) Cahya Hardianto Harefa. “I said to Pak Cahya that I deny the allegation and state that it is basically untrue,” said Sandiaga Uno today.
Sandiaga confirmed that he will be transparent regarding campaign funding while reporting his LHKPN report, which is one of many requirements to run in the 2019 presidential election.
The issue regarding Sandiaga’s alleged political dowry emerged after Democrat Party Secretary General Andi Arief tweeted on August 8, suggesting that Sandiaga managed to run as Prabowo Subianto’s vice presidential candidate after he gave Rp500 billion each to the National Mandate Party (PAN) and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).
However, head of Prabowo – Sandiaga presidential campaign Sudirman Said asserted that Sandiaga will not take this matter to court and considers Andi Arief’s tweet as a normal part of political dynamics. “I don’t think I will report [Andi Arief], he is a part of the coalition,” said Sandiaga Uno.
