TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Some 6,500 athletes of the 2018 Asian Games are estimated to have checked-in to the Athletes Village in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, before the opening ceremony on August 18. So far, thousands have checked into the newly-built guesthouse.
"Athletes from 33 nations have checked-in there, but that's not everyone," 2018 Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) chairman Erick Thohir said in Jakarta, adding that the athletes who have occupied their accommodation are those from sports that have been contested.
The first sport that have held a match was football. But none of the athletes stayed in Kemayoran, as the matches are held in Bekasi and Bandung.
