TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -  The country's largest brewery PT Multi Bintang Indonesia is expanding its market by exporting one of its products, Bir Bintang, to the United States market. The company exported the same beer brand to South Korea in May.

By tapping into the US market, Bir Bintang is now available in four continents: Asia, Europe, Australia, and America.

“We are truly proud that the Bir Bintang that is brewed by Indonesia’s best will be available in four continents,” said Multi Bintang Indonesia president director Michael Chin during the inaugural export ceremony in Tangerang, Monday, August 13.

According to Michael, Bir Bintang exports to the US market are driven by the high demand from US surfers who have visited Indonesia, which is said to harbor many surfing haven islands throughout the country’s 95,000 kilometers of coastline.

Besides support from the surfing community, Michael said that his company’s beer had become more popular as the number of Southeast Asian restaurants began to grow across the US, where its consumers yearn for authentic products and experiences.

“This is a great chance for Bir Bintang to deliver its Indonesian palate to the United States,” he said.
