900 Women Divers Spread Merah-Putih Flag in Manado Waters

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As many as 900 women divers enthusiastic to participate the massive diving event in Manado, North Sulawesi, Saturday, August 11.

The Indonesian Female Divers (WASI) led by the wife of National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian organized the event in an attempt to break the Indonesia World Record Museum (MURI) by spreading the national Merah-Putih (red-white) flag under Manado waters.

The location was set in Manado Beach, Mega Mas, North Sulawesi. Many residents also flocked to witness the event. “I deliberately came with my friends to see it,” said Noni Solomonsz, a Manado resident.

Meanwhile, another local named Lani Winontoan expressed his appreciation for the event which he deemed would promote the underwater tourism and as the campaign to preserve the ecosystem.

WASI expected the massive diving event involving hundreds of women divers would introduce the underwater sports among women and the public in general.
