BREAKING NEWS: Indonesia Beats Thailand to Win U-16 AFF Cup  

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia U-16 national team won the U-16 AFF Cup tournament. Indonesian coach Fakhri Husaini`s team beat Thailand in a penalty shootout, which ended 4-3, after both teams drew 1-1 in 2 x 40 minutes.

In the final match at Gelora Delta Stadium, Sidoarjo, East Java, Saturday, August 11, 2018, goalkeeper Ernando Ari Sutaryadi became a hero. When the penalty shootout was carried out, he managed to stem two opponent penalty kicks.

In normal time, Indonesia excels first. The goal was scored by Muhammad Fajar Fathurahman in the 32nd minute. Receiving feedback from Andre Oktaviansyah in the middle of the field, Fajar, who recently entered as a substitute, only made one touch with the side of his right foot and was able to score a goal.

Thailand responded in the 72nd minute through Apidet Janngam. The player is in a free position when crossed by a ball and is able to take advantage of the first shot for his team, which scored a goal.

1-1 score lasted until the end of the second half. Finally, Indonesian national team defeated Thailand in a penalty shootout.

This is the first title for Indonesia in the U-16 AFF Cup. Previously, the U-16 national team's best score was the runner-up in 2013.
