Prabowo, SBY Discuss Sandiaga Uno as VP Candidate

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The meeting between Prabowo Subianto and Democrat Party chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) today, August 9, at SBY`s residence discussed Sandiaga Uno as one of the names to accompany Gerindra patron chief in 2019 Presidential Election.

Gerindra secretary-general Ahmad Muzani said SBY was pleased and agreed with the name Sandiaga Uno that mentioned during the session. “All possible names to be Prabowo’s running mate were being discussed. Pak SBY gladly approves the suggestion,” said Muzani when met at Prabowo’s house in South Jakarta.

The possibility of Sandiaga Uno to get a vice presidential ticket risen following a report saying he would resign from his position as Jakarta Deputy Governor. However, Muzani claimed no report submitted to the party in light of the issue.

When asked about the final decision on who will be paired with Prabowo, Muzani answered: “He (Prabowo) will intensify the communication, and the result will later conclude to one name.”

Muzani mentioned Gerindra along with the party coalition are intensely holding discussions today, August 9 and that the declaration will take place soon. “[Based on] the information, the declaration will be held today. Hopefully, it is true,” he added.
