Prabowo Subianto set to Announce Presidential Candidacy Tonight

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian opposition party Gerindra announced that it is set to declare its 2019 presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto tonight.

According to Gerindra Party’s central board (DPP) deputy Hashim Djojohadikusumo, the declaration will be held at Prabowo’s house in Kertanegara Street, South Jakarta.

“The declaration later in the night will be held I think in Kertanegara,” said Hashim in City Hall, Central Jakarta on Thursday, August 9.

However, Hashim did not explain in detail whether the party would pair Prabowo Subianto with Sandiaga Uno, and only answered with a wink of the eye followed by; “We’ll see later, as the rules state,” he said.

He was also silent on the matter of the Rp500 billion political dowry from Sandiaga Uno. Hashim said that the Gerindra Party has a strong coalition.

Sandiaga Uno’s name had emerged as a possible running-mate for Prabowo Subianto lately, which was corroborated by Gerindra Deputy Chairman Fadli Zon who acknowledged that Sandiaga Uno had officially been considered as a vice presidential candidate by the party’s Chairman.
