TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After focusing its efforts upon the country’s infrastructure development, the Indonesian government will shift its focus on developing its human resources in 2019. This is the reason the government will also be increasing its budget by Rp 4 trillion next year.
“It will be Rp14 trillion from last year’s Rp10 trillion,” said Bambang Brodjonegoro, Minister of National Development and Planning on Tuesday, August 7.
Previously, Bambang stated that the government will also focus on the state spending on social funds and subsidy programs. The budget for social funds increased dramatically to Rp31 trillion.
“The receivers will stay the same, 10 million heads per household since the poverty standard has increased to Rp400,000 per person,” said Bambang.
In order to supply the increased spending, Bappenas together with the Finance Ministry will drop spending that have less impact towards economy in general.
However, the Director of Research of Reform on Economics Indonesia Piter Abdullah was pessimistic with the human resources improvement program. He argued that the program needs to have certainty upon the change of a better coordination and partnership between ministries.
