Jokowi Coalition Set to Meet Tonight Determining VP Candidate

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The United Development Party (PPP) Chairman Romahurmuziy said that the vice presidential candidate that will accompany President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo will be announced tomorrow on Thursday, August 9.

In order to finalize Jokowi’s running mate, Romahurmuziy or Romy said that the leaders of the Jokowi coalition party will gather at a meeting tonight. “There will be a meeting tonight,” said Romy today.

The meeting is said to discuss the presidential and vice presidential candidacy for the upcoming 2019 presidential election. The coalition party is set to register their candidates to the General Elections Commission (KPU) on the last day of registration on Friday, August 10.

Up until this moment, Jokowi is yet to announce his running mate for the 2019 presidential election. The names that is likely to be his vice president comprise of NTB Governor Tuan Guru Bajang Zainul Majdi, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, Indonesian Ulema Council Ma’aruf Amin, Mahfud MD, and Golkar’s Airlangga Hartanto.
