TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut Pandjaitan said in response to Sunday's 7-magnitude earthquake that jolted Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, that there would be no change to the planned IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings in October.
“There is no change. They remain as scheduled,” he said at Pullman Hotel in Jakarta on Monday, August 6, 2018. Luhut added the summit would still take place in Nusa Dua, Bali.
Luhut said the decision was based on multiple studies, including the results of his discussions with volcanologist. “I asked Professor Surono [volcanologist], and this earthquake will not affect [the meetings], and there is no effect on Mount Agung,” he said.

Luhut explained the participating countries had yet to respond to news on the earthquake, thus the summit would proceed as planned.
The IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings are slated to take place from October 8-14 in Nusa Dua, Badung regency. Some 17,000 delegations from 189 countries are scheduled to attend the summit.
