TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A survey conducted by pollster Roda Tiga Konsultan showed that several alternatives of the vice presidential candidate to accompany Joko “Jokowi” Widodo would likely decrease his electability rate.
“When Jokowi is paired with several alternative candidates, his electability rate decreased,” said the agency’s Research director Rikola Fedri, in Jakarta, Sunday, August 5.
Riko explained the electability rate of Jokowi alone reached over 50 percent. In the simulation of Jokowi versus Prabowo Subianto, the incumbent obtained 51.6 percent votes, while Prabowo 30.8 percent.
Compared with Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono at only 20.7 percent, Jokowi received 56.2 percents. As for with Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, Jokowi electability rate saw 57.5 percent and Anies at 18.7 percent.
Meanwhile, when Jokowi was paired with several alternatives of vice presidential candidate including Chairul Tanjung, Puan Maharani, and Budi Gunawan, his electability rate was below 50 percent, respectively at 49.3, 47.4, and 47.9 percent.
The same condition also showed in the survey towards his strongest opponent Prabowo Subianto. Prabowo’s alternative running mates, reportedly Anies Baswedan and Gatot Nurmantyo, failed to defeat the electability rate of Jokowi.
“But, with Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Prabowo’s electability rate rises and that contrary to Jokowi’s which below 50 percent,” he added.
Roda Tiga Konsultan conducted the survey on July 23-August 1, 2018 with stratified systemic random sampling, involving 1,620 respondents age above 17 years. The number of respondents was claimed to proportionally distributed in each province and that its margin of error was 2.5 percent.
