TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Despite Ustadz Abdul Somad refusal towards the offer to be the vice president candidate for Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) Chairman Prabowo Subianto in the 2019 Presidential Election, National Coordinator of Sahabat PUAS (Prabowo and Ustadz Abdul Somad) Diko Nugroho will declare the pair for the 2019 Presidential Election across five cities.
The five cities included in the declaration agenda are Bandung, Medan, Makassar, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta.
Diko asserted that Ustadz Abdul Somad has not entirely refused to be nominated as vice president candidate. Diko, instead, considered Abdul Somad's refusal as a normal response from an Islamic scholar (santri) who is offered a position in the government.
"It is the culture of a santri when offered a position," said Diko on Friday, August 3.
Diko believed that Somad will eventually take the offer following strong requests from Muslim communities.
