TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The fire burned Jakarta International Velodrome, Rawamangun, was claimed to not destructed the cycling stadium which will be used for Asian Games 2018.
The city-owned construction company Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) Corporate Secretary Hani Sumarno said Jakarta International Velodrome was not damaged by the blaze on Thursday, August 2.
“The fire blazed outside the arena. The smoke is seen indeed from Velodrome,” said Hani in a short message, Friday, August 3. “We don’t experience any loss.”
The fire reportedly occurred in a storeroom owned by Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency in Rawamangun. The incident was alarming because located in the Velodrome complex, which the cycling sports event of the 18th Asian Games will take place.
Based on a written statement, the fire brigade recorded the blaze started at 18:15 local times, precisely at around the cycling stadium, Jl. Balap Sepeda, Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta.
A total of nine units of firefighter fleets and two water pumps were mobilized to extinguish the fire. The fire was fully put out at 18:29 local times.
“We appreciate the speed movement of the firefighters, so the newly-built sporting venue is safe from the fire,” said Hani in light of the fire at Velodrome, Rawamangun prior to the 2018 Asian Games.
