Asian Games; Palembang Facilitated with Water Bus, Hydrogen Car

TEMPO.CO, Palembang - As the host of the 18th Asian Games, Palembang received eco-friendly vehicles from the central government and donor country from Europe. As many as five water buses were handed to the city today, August 1, and another 50 buses before August 10 so as to accommodate the athletes and officials, as well as the public.
The Land Transportation Director General Budi Setiayadi said the water bus would exclusively mobilize the athletes and officials during the sports event. The regional administration would manage its operations after the 18th Asian Games end. The ship, that worth Rp2.2 billion each, was claimed to be equipped with high-technology facilities.

The 12-meter length and 3-meter width water bus could board up to 20 passengers. “We will send 50 land buses later,” he added.
South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin lauded the Transportation Ministry for preparing every need to success the Asian Games event.
Alex Noerdin mentioned the central government had delivered 10 hydrogen buses for the sake of the 18th Asian Games. The vehicles would be specially operated in Jakabaring Sports City (JSC) complex and that supported JSC as Green Sports City.
“The transportation means that are allowed there rely on the electrical power without fuel oil,” Alex said.
