TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Police Traffic Directorate postponed the traffic simulation to 19 toll gates of Jakarta Inner Road Ring so as to calculate the travel time of the 2018 Asian Games athletes or delegates. The trial was initially scheduled to take place today.

“It is postponed to Wednesday [August 1] at 08:00 am,” said the police traffic director Sr. Comr. Yusuf, Tuesday, July 31.

Yusuf said the plan on closing several toll gates was not final thus the test should be conducted in advance. From the coordination with the stakeholders, he added, several toll roads must be closed in a certain time from Athletes apartment, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta to sporting venues such as in Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Central Jakarta.

By the time the athletes heading to the venue, a total of 10 toll gates would be closed starting 06:00 to 17:00 local times and nine toll gates will also be closed at 12:00 to 21:00 pm during the return trip.

The ten toll gates are Ancol Barat, Jembatan Tiga 1, Angke 2, Tanjung Duren, Off Ramp Harapan Kita Hospital, Slipi 2, Podomoro, Rawamangun, Pedati, and TMII. While the nine toll gates are Gedong Panjang 2, Jembatan Tiga 2, Angke 1, Jelambar 1, Slipi 1, Sunter, Jatinegara, Kebon Nanas, and TMII.

Earlier, Yusuf said that the police had conducted other traffic simulations from Asian Games Athletes’ apartment, Kemayoran to GBK and that the travel time reached 30 minutes. The Asian Games will take place in Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra, beginning August 18-September 2, 2018.
