TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi discussed strategies to enhance Indonesian`s foreign exchange reserves in the meeting held in Bogor Palace today, July 31.
The president stressed that Indonesia’s priority is increasing foreign exchange reserve as it is needed to improve the economic resilience of Indonesia in facing the uncertainty of the global economy.
“There are two important things, namely import control and export enhancement,” said President Jokowi on Tuesday, July 31.
Therefore, Jokowi urged an immediate implementation of the biodiesel policy since its saving is quite significant. More than that, the president also wanted to evaluate the import detail so the strategic and the not-strategic imports could soon be classified.

“We need to temporarily stop and reduce [the imports],” said Jokowi firmly.
Jokowi also briefly mentioned the urgency of accelerating the use of domestic component level (TKDN) and the growth of import substitution industry in order to suppress Indonesia’s import rate.
Particularly for export, Jokowiemphasized Indonesia must have strategies of the details of products that must be strengthened. The president added that the state should be focused on watching the export obstacles in the destination country.BISNIS.COM
