TEMPO.CO, Waisai - Ten divers joined in Professional Association of Divers Raja Ampat (Padra) would accompany Indonesian celebrity Nadine Chandrawinata participating in the 18th Asian Games torch relay in Raja Ampat, West Papua, on July 26-28, 2018.
Padra officials Julie Ana Macpal said Nadine as the torchbearer would dive in Piaynemo waters, Raja Ampat, at a depth of seven meters for 30 minutes along with the ten divers. The torch then would be handed to the swimmer until the port and passed on to the runner until the peak of Piaynemo.
The Asian Games torch would parade around Wasai, the capital city of Raja Ampat. West Papua Governor Dominggus Mandacan, West Papua Police chief Brig. Gen. Rudolf Alberth Rodja, and Raja Ampat Mayor Abdul Faris Umlati would also join the parade.
The students and the locals would welcome the entourage along the road from Waisai Port until the mayor's residence.
Raja Ampat Mayor Abdul said the regional administration and the community enthusiastic to enliven the Asian Games Torch Relay in the area. “Asian Games Torch Relay passes Piaynemo Island, one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in Raja Ampat and that promotes Indonesian tourism,” he said.
West Papua Governor Dominggus Mandacan expressed his appreciation to the administration and the local community involving in the 2018 Asian Games Torch Relay. “Thank you to the media who publish the event. Hopefully, it will increase the tourist arrivals in Raja Ampat.”
