TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Democratic Party deputy secretary-general Rachland Nashidik criticized the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) as a feudal party. According to Rachland, the PDIP is stuck in the nostalgia of First Indonesian President Sukarno’s leadership.
“They shouldn’t dare to advise the Democratic Party. [We are] a consistent party, and [we] always get up again whenever we fall when struggling to be a modern and democratic party,” Rachland said on Thursday, July 26.

Rachland compares Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) with Puan Maharani. According to Rachland, AHY made his way in politics by himself. This, said Rachland, was confirmed by pollsters that made AHY a favorite vice-presidential candidate.
“Take a look at Puan. Is Puan qualified to be a Minister according to the people or according to her mother?” Rachland said criticizing Puan’s position as the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.

Rachland went on, “I don’t think Puan is qualified [for the position]. However, is there anyone in the PDI-P dare to speak to Megawati, in the Democratic Party? In the Democratic [Party] we can disagree with SBY,” he said.
Rachland delivered the statement in response to PDIP secretary-general Hasto Kristiyanto’s criticism on Democratic Party chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). Hasto was offended because SBY said that the Democratic Party was unable to support Jokowi as they were blocked by other coalition parties.
