TEMPO.CO, Mataram - West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) continues to improve to become a center of world’s halal tourism. The latest package offered to support the ambition is to prepare Mawun Beach in Central Lombok Regency to be friendly to Muslim tourists, especially from the Middle East.
Chairman of the Tourism Promotion Board (BPPD) NTB Fauzan Zakaria said that Mawun Beach is prepared for tourists from the Middle East for a family vacation.
The one that is done, among other things, is to anticipate the environment to keep the beach free from unfit scenery for children.
Mawun Beach is the next tourist destination after the Association of Indonesian Tourism Company (ASITA) NTB made the following places as the halal tourism destinations, including Islamic Center in Mataram, Karang Bayan ancient mosque in District Lingsar West Lombok Regency and Musholla Al Ridwan in Dusun Jurang Malang Pakuan Village, West Lombok Regency.
Karang Bayan Ancient Mosque is a relic of the Wetu Telu indigenous people that its construction is from bamboo with a reed roof. While Musholla Al Ridwan was built by the residents of Chinese ethnic, and the design resembles a temple.
In addition to religious locations, Muslim tourists can also visit the natural tourist sites, such as Sesaot protected forest, Segenter Waterfall in Sesaot (West Lombok), Benang Setokel waterfall and Benang Kelambu waterfall in Central Lombok Regency.
Then there is the Sade Traditional Village, Central Lombok Regency, as well as the tourist islands of Gili Nanggu, Gili Sudak, and Gili Kedis in Sekotong, West Lombok Regency.
“I am very confident, NTB will be the center of world’s halal tourism,” said Fauzan Zakaria.
NTB BPPD Secretary Muhammad Nur Haedin said there have been four cities in the Middle East that are targeted for halal tourism market, namely Riyadh, Dubai, Cairo, and Qatar.
