TEMPO.CO, Situbondo - State-owned railway company Kereta Api Indonesia or KAI planned to hold Pesta Rakyat Semarak Asian Games (people`s party) to welcome 18th Asian Games torch relay in Situbondo district.
“We want the public to be enthusiastic in welcoming the 18th Asian Games since Indonesia is the host,” said KAI official R. Ruli Adi in a press release at Situbondo, July 21.
He said the festival aimed at welcoming the torch relay of the games passing by Situbondo district. The route would start from 1,000 KM monument Anyer Panarukan, Situbondo Regent office, and Pendopo (official residence) of Situbondo Regent.
Other than to entertain Situbondo people, he added, the festival also aims to educate and inform the public in light of Asian Games event which would take place on August 18-September 2.
“KAI also synergizes with local MSMEs to open bazaar during the festival so as to boost the competitiveness between local products and other products from overseas,” said Ruli Adi, adding that the festival was initiated by SOE ministry.
KAI also spread the spirit of Asian Games 2018 in two of its stations namely Gambir station in Jakarta and Kertapati station in Palembang.
