TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A magnitude 5.5 earthquake shook Padang, West Sumatra today, July 21, at 14:58 local times. The city previously experienced tremor at dawn.
According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in Padang Panjang, the epicenter of the quake was at the coordinate of 0.97 south latitude and 100.70 east longitude with the hypocenter of 10 kilometers. No tsunami warning was issued.

The quake was located in the 9 kilometers southeast of Padang, 19 kilometers southeast of Solok District, 33 kilometers east of Solok City, and 33 kilometers southeast of Pariaman.
Most of the people run out from their residences as the tremor was strongly felt.
A Padang resident named Azzam claimed that he felt a big shock twice. No casualties reported due to the earthquake.
