TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 2018 Asian Games’ INASGOC director of transportation, Ipung Purnomo, said the committee would look into every possible alternative to help Asian Games athletes arrive on time at the Games venues. He said INASGOC had communicated with the Jakarta Metro Police, the Greater Jakarta Transportation Body (BPTJ), and the Jakarta Transportation Agency.
Ipung also suggested that state-official convoys, including the presidential convoy, would have to give way to passing-by Asian Games athlete buses. The 2018 Asian Games is set to take place in Jakarta and Palembang.
“Even if it’s the president’s convoy, they would have to stop and give way. The buses transporting the athletes will be given the highest priority on the road. The president has paid attention to this issue,” said Ipung at the Kemayoran Athlete’s apartment complex on Friday, July 20.

He further explained that the tolerated time of arrival for an athlete to shun disqualification 15-minutes.
INASGOC has also separated the exit ways at the Kemayoran Athlete apartment complex into two ways, with each exit designed to directly face public streets that lead to a specific Asian Games event.
Ipung said that this morning’s traffic simulation showed that the travel time to an Asian Games venue in Cibubur took 31 minutes, to Pondok Indah (30 minutes), Ancol (12 minutes), TMII (20 minutes), and Rawamangun (18 minutes), which are well under the 34-minute travel time limit set by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
