Asian Games Torch Departed from Blitar to Malang

TEMPO.CO, Malang - The 2018 Asian Games XVIII torch is scheduled to arrive in Malang on Friday, July 20, after being carried by running from the Blitar city. The departure point of the torch from Blitar is at the tomb of Indonesia`s First President Soekarno the Proclamator.

“We will welcome the Asian Games torch at the border of Malang City and Regency, precisely between Kebonagung (Malang Regency) and Kacuk (Malang City),” said Head of Public Relations of Malang Administration, M. Nurwidianto on Thursday, July 19.

The Asian Games torch is scheduled to arrive at the border of Malang City and Regency at 03:36 pm. Furthermore, it will be carried away from the border at around 03:58 pm and arrived at the City Hall at around 06:11 pm.

Nurwidianto explained during the route of Kacuk-Malang City Hall, the Asian Games torchbearer will pass 20 checkpoints, and at each point, there is a change of torchbearer runner.

According to Nurwidianto, the torch will be carried by the runners accompanied by residents from various communities, including from the Army or TNI. The runner is estimated to have a 500-meter inter-checkpoint with a time of about 7 minutes.

Upon arrival at Malang City Hall, the torch will be received by task executor of Malang Mayor Sutiaji. “Saturday, July 21 at 01:00 am, the Asian Games torch will be brought to Mount Bromo,” he said.

The route that will be passed by the Asian Games torch is Kacuk-Jalan S Supriyadi-Jalan Wahid Hasyim-Jalan Kawi-Jalan Ijen-Jalan Semeru-Jalan Kahuripan-Malang City Hall on Jalan Tugu.
