TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has set the Labuhanbatu Regent Pangonal Harahap as a bribe suspect of a project in Labuhanbatu, North Sumatera for the fiscal year of 2018.
“After conducting the examination and case degree, it was concluded that there was an allegation of corruption in giving or receiving a gift or a promise to the Labuhanbatu Regent related to projects in Labuhanbatu regency, North Sumatera FY 2018,” said Deputy Chairman of KPK, Saut Situmorang on Wednesday, July 18.
Besides Pangonal, KPK also set his confidant, Umar Ritonga as a suspect of a bribe recipient. Meanwhile, the suspect giver, KPK set the owner of PT Binivan Konstruksi Abadi Effendy Sahputra.
KPK suspects that Pangonal has received a bribe of Rp576 million from Effendy Sahputra through Umar. Of that amount, 16 million was given to AT who made the withdrawal of the money. Meanwhile, another Rp61 million was transferred to Effendy. The money is allegedly part of the allocation of Rp3 billion.
“It is alleged that the money was from the disbursement of the development of RSUD Rantau Prapat Labuhanbatu,” Saut said.
The disclosure of the case started from the Sting Operation held by KPK in Jakarta and Labuhanbatu on Tuesday, July 17. KPK arrested Pangolan and his aide at the Soekarno Hatta airport. While in Labuhanbatu, KPK arrested Effendy, Head of Labuhanbatu PUPR Service Khairul Pakhri and one private party H. Thamrin Ritonga.
Umar managed to escape when KPK about to arrest after he took the money at the Regional Development Bank of North Sumatra. Umar helped to bring the Rp500 million money that has just been disbursed. KPK only managed to get the evidence of transactions worth Rp576 million.
