Asian Games Torch Relay Set to Meet Mount Ijen and its Blue Flame

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The district of Banyuwangi is set to showcase several cultural attractions upon welcoming the 2018 Asian Games torch relay in July 21-July 22 that will see the Asian Games torch be taken to the peak of Mount Ijen.
“The arrival of the Asian Games torch relay will be transformed into a tourism promotion event,” said Banyuwangi Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas on Tuesday, July 17.
The Asian Games torch will be taken to the peak of the mountain that is internationally known for its blue flame phenomenon.
After the torch peaks, it will then be taken to the Pendopo Banyuwangi through the city’s main roads by local athletes and members of the public that has significant contributions towards the region.
The roads that will be passed by the torch will showcase numerous Banyuwangi attractions such as Gandrung, ethnic carnival, up to the Barong attraction. The Asian Games excitement will be added by an ongoing local agribusiness commodity festival and the musical performance from Lalare
Orchestra.
